Gemstones

Gemstones have held a fascination of both mystery and romance throughout the ages. In early times, gemstones were coveted as "charms" or "amulets" to ward off evil. Later the beauty and rarity of gems became symbols of status and power. Today gem discoveries and sources have made gemstones affordable and attainable. There are a vast array of new varieties to the traditional selection of ruby, emerald, and sapphire. Some of these more unusual gemstones command higher prices than more well-known gemstones, due to their beauty and rarity. There are several reasons that gemstones are desirable to own and wear. Each stone is a natural work of art, each

having a distinct and separate personality possessing unique characteristics. Fine quality gemstones are rare, and prices depend on supply and demand. Yet, finer quality gemstones in smaller sizes hold value better than a larger gemstone that is less fine because of the rarity of fine quality gemstones.

Treat gemstones with care, for it will affect its durability and lasting value. Some guidelines for care are to keep jewelry separated when storing. Keeping jewelry separate will prevent scratching and damaging, if jewelry does not touch one another. Such products as cologne, hairspray, and other

toiletries should be applied before putting on your jewelry.

And bring your jewelry to Leonard Jewelry at least once a year to have your gemstones checked to make sure they are secure in their settings.
