When a diamond is cut to ideal proportions, it gives a spectacular balance of brilliance, sparkle and fire. Maximum brilliance is reflected from facet to facet and through the top of the diamond in a rainbow blaze of light.
The ideal cut is a mathematical formula for cutting a diamond to precise angles and proportions to gain the optimum reflection and light refraction. Because more of the original rough diamond must be sacrificed to achieve an ideal cut, only a small percentage of diamonds are cut this way.
