Caring for Timepieces

Watches should be selected according to the type of wear it will recieve. A dress watch will not hold up to the rigor of a sports event. Select a watch for the type of activity that is needed and make sure to maintain your watch for proper care.

- A mechanical watch need to be wound, and preferably about the same time each day, and while it is off your wrist.

- Do not submit watches to overly vigorous treatment, such as dropping, throwing, or hitting.

- Replace broken crystals because a hairline crack can allow dust or moisture into the watch, threatening its accuracy.

- Unless the degree of water resistance is clearly stated, do not risk wearing it in a shower or pool., or even on a wet wrist.

- Do not attempt "do it yourself" watch repair. Only a watch repairman should be trusted to repair your watch and change batteries. Dead batteries left in the watch can corrode and ruin the movement.
